In this article we are going to explain some of the ways that you can battle the issue of bad breath. Bad breath is a major issue for some people and can severely affect their lives. And most people who do have bad breath or otherwise known as halitosis don’t even know that they do have it. There are many reasons why people can obtain bad breath and in this article we aim to tell you different methods you can use to avoid getting halitosis.
Bad breath can originate for a few reasons like:
Smoking Tobacco – The smoke inhaled can dwell in certain areas of your mouth and can fester into an odour if you are not regularly taking the appropriate cleaning actions.
Medical conditions – Conditions like chronic bronchitis, diabetes or periodontal disease can all be factors in causing bad breath.
Food – Food that does not get swallowed that sticks to teeth or has not left your mouth can also cause bad breath, because it has nowhere to go and sort of progresses into an odour by itself.
There are many things you can do to cure bad breath. Below is a few things that are critical to retaining good oral hygiene:
1. Brushing your teeth properly: You may think that this goes without saying, but you would be surprised at how many people in the world do not take the right amount of time in brushing their teeth thoroughly. The recommended time for brushing your teeth is about 2 minutes where as the worldwide average is far less than that. It is very important that you brush in all areas in your mouth to make sure that you have any impurities washed away.
2. Flossing: Flossing is massively important for maintaining good oral hygiene because food that gets stuck in your teeth can cause massive damage to both your teeth and mouth. If food stuck in your teeth gets left for a while it can rot the areas of your teeth and mouth where it is lodged.
3. Using mouthwash: Using mouthwash is not as important as the previous two but it does wash away any excess food or impurities that ma lie stagnant in your mouth and we would highly recommend that you do use it.
4. Use a tongue scraper: If you have not heard of one of these before it is a similar shaped instrument to the toothbrush but it scrapes away any excess build up on your tongue. They are very helpful to maintain good oral hygiene because any impurities that gather on your tongue do or can cause bad breath and with using a tongue scraper as well as the previous three you can leave no stone unturned and will be well on your way to curing bad breath.
5. Visit your dentist regularly: Visiting your dentist at least every 6 months is very important so that they can eliminate any plaque or tartar build ups that you may not be able to get rid of yourself. And also they will have a better insight into the state of your oral hygiene and can offer help or advice.
So as you can see if you follow al 5 of these recommendations you will soon be free of bad breath and can not feel conscious about other people noticing it. If followed these 5 recommendations will rid bad breath assuming there is no other underlying problem, but for just general mouth hygiene maintenance this will work
