Effective Bad Breath Cures
In America, about half of the total population (that’s a lot, by the way) complains of bad breath problems. Around the world, the numbers are almost the same – about 50%, or higher, of the population in most countries say they have bad breath. There are a lot of people dealing with this problem, even when they don’t talk about it. What can we do about it? What cures do we have for bad breath?
Most people know the causes of bad breath. Bacteria that linger in the surfaces of our teeth, gums, tongues, and the inside of our cheeks are the main causes of bad breath. Once you acknowledge that fact, you’ll have an easier time fighting bad breath. One particular way to cure bad breath is to minimize food intake that bacteria comes from or thrives on. The causes of bad breath, which are the volatile sulfur compounds, are waste products of anaerobic oral bacteria after digesting proteins. Vegetarians are said to have fewer bad breath problems that individuals whose diet mostly consist of high protein foods like meat. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone should go animal-friendly all of a sudden. The main weapon against bad breath is a clean mouth, so it is important that you thoroughly clean your mouth after eating regardless if you ate a vegetable salad or a meaty meal. After eating, there are small food particles that remain in the mouth. They get stuck in places like in-between teeth and in the tongue. In these locations is exactly where the anaerobic bacteria live. If you do not clean your mouth properly, especially after meals, you feed these bacteria whatever food particles you have not swallowed – and they will give you your bad breath problems.
Baking soda is another cure for bad breath. You may have heard it on the radio or television commercials. There are a few brands of toothpaste that has baking soda as one of their main ingredients. The reason for that is you can clean your mouth with baking soda, something you can just buy from your nearest store. Make a paste out of baking soda and water. You can add your toothpaste for a pleasant taste, and then use it to remove the coating on your tongue. You can also mix the baking soda and water to use as a gargle. The pH levels in your mouth are altered by baking soda, which makes it effective against bad breath. Basically, it makes your mouth an unfavorable place for bacteria to grow.
Unsweetened brewed green tea is also effective in the fight against bad breath; even more effective if you drink it several times a day. Tea, especially green tea, consists of polyphenols which slow bacteria growth. Also, drinking green tea several times a day keeps your mouth from drying, thereby preventing bacteria from thriving. Another thing that you can get from tea is the unalloyed copper which will serve as your natural tongue scraper.
There are a lot more old wives tales, home remedies, and urban legends that revolve around a cure for bad breath but the aforementioned ones are those that work best. They are also easy to make, inexpensive, and is widely available.
