has anyone had tonsiliths “tonsil stones” (pieces of food that get stuck in your tonsils)?
i’ve had this problem since i was about 13 and in the past year its gotten extremely bad. it seems like i get it all the time and it takes forever for them to come out. i can’t brush them out, i can’t cough them out, and i can’t pop them out with a q-tip. i have to wait for them to work themselves out far enough for me to feel them with my finger and scrape them out. (sorry to be gross)
at times i can even tell what food got stuck. once agtain i hate to be so gross but on monday afternoon i had a mcdonalds cheese burger and i’m pretty sure a little piece of onion got stuck AND IS STILL THERE i can actually smell an onion smell and it stings a lot when i swallow. and today i think tiny piece of mac n cheese got stuck in there.
my throat constantly hurts and i can feel the stuff in there. sometimes i feel like i can’t breath very well and i feel a pressure almost in my nose like its gonna fly out of of my nose.
has anyone else gotten this?
how do you cope with it?
what type of dr should i go to? when i mentioned it to my regular dr she had no clue what i was talking about.
do you think a dr would suggest a tonsillectomy to cure this? or do i just have to live with it the rest of my life.
i hate to have an operation especially cuz i just had a surgery for another problem this past monday. but i really want this to go away so i’m not constantly feeling crappy.

My
name is Lesli Paterson, and welcome to my blog. I created this blog to
help other people like me who are suffering with tonsil stones.
You need to get your tonsils out. I had something similar, and needed to get mine out.
Change regular doctors.. if she doesn’t see the sign to take the damn things out, she must be stupid.
having them removed will help. see someone else and bring up having them removed… it’s what needs to be done.
I get them every now and then and i remember standing in front of the mirror for hours trying to get the dam things out without sucess then i bought a waterpik at target for 40 buck and it removes them with little effort just aim it at the tonsil stones on low pressure and they pop right out. Best 40 bucks ive ever spent no more bad breath
I sympathize with you.
I get them all the time! I use a q-tip, small flashlight and one of those dentist like tools with the hooky/pick at the end of it. I don’t use the hook part though, I use the handle part. I find that if I can see it with the flashlight, and it’s not out enough to swab out with the q-tip I can push on my tonsil around it with the handle of the pick to push the little sucker out. I spoke to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doc. He said that they aren’t harmful but can be a pain in the arse. He said if I wanted to have my tonsils out that was my choice, but if they aren’t bothersome he wouldn’t advise it. They aren’t bothersome, they are just a nuisance.
So, create a “white thing” kit like my sis and I each have (our own tools) and do what you can to get them out. It doesn’t have anything to do with the foods you eat, the quantity you eat or how much you chew it. Your tonsils just have little pockets that the food gets caught in. If they continue to be really bothersome go to an ENT and see what they say.
What if I told you there was a simple, easy and cheap way to permanently get rid of your tonsil stones for good without surgery?
This book is a must read for anyone suffering from tonsil stones.
