Lots of mucus in my throat!?
Hello!
Could someone please help me out here.
I’ having a lot of mucus in my throat for a very long time now.
Is it possible that excessive mucus in your throat can give : bad taste in mouth, possibly bad breath (cause I feel that my tongue just smells very bad) the smell comes exactly from my tongue. And also I clear up my throat very often.
What might be the cause of that mucus. Allergologist told me I don’t have any allergy based on tests he did. Than what could that be? I don’t smoke also.
I went to ENT, he told me I have allergic rhinitis and prescribed some spray, but did not say anything about medicine helping me against mucus. Anyway my insurance did not cover that spray. I got another one from my pharmacy : “Fluticasone Propionate”. You think this should help? Is is any good?
Thank you!

My
name is Lesli Paterson, and welcome to my blog. I created this blog to
help other people like me who are suffering with tonsil stones.
From the rhinitis, that means that your mucosa is inflamed, which any time that you have inflammation anywhere it usually causes fluid-production (mucus in this case because it’s ENT).
Without knowing the cause of the problem, you can’t really find the solution, but if you’re worried about bad breath, etc I’d keep some tic-tacs handy, mints, etc. so that your confidence doesn’t suffer. I kept a respiratory infection (without knowing it) for several weeks and only saw my doctor when I started having a bleachy taste when I cough. Until then, it was only a mucus-like cough so I didn’t bother with the MD.
Also, saline nasal spray is good when you’re not using your rx sprays. It’ll keep the moisture in the nose at a regular level (so that the inflammation doesn’t get even more irritated, making more mucus secretion).
If it isn’t an allergy, it could be due to something you’re breathing in that is just an irritant to the body. I’d look around in your home/workplace for anything new that you might not have thought of (sometimes simple cleaners and air fresheners can cause irritation) and go from there. Something has to be causing the trouble.
Good luck.
The nasal spray will stop post nasal drip. It is specifically used for post nasal drip due to allergy. And that post nasal drip is where the mucus in your throat is coming from. So, yes…use the spray!! And call your insurance to find out why they didnt cover it. It should be covered under most insurances…you even have the generic.
