My daughter is getting her tonsils and adenoids out. Should I really expect behavior changes?
My 6 year old daughter is getting her tonsils and adenoids out in a couple days. Not because she has a lot of throat infections, but because they have been enlarged for over a year and causing hearing problems. Her Dr has told us in the past that we should have this surgery done because it will improve her concentration in school as well as her appetite and over all well being, but I’m skeptical that those types of changes will really occur. Have any of your children had this surgery for these reason’s and what changes occurred with them? I agree that the surgery needs to be done, but don’t think the affects will be what they say.

My
name is Lesli Paterson, and welcome to my blog. I created this blog to
help other people like me who are suffering with tonsil stones.
my brothers and friends had this procedure and they were so much better after . I have had chronic problems with my tonsils and adenoids , I am 35 and I wish I had them removed in childhood when it was recommended. there will be a an improvement with eating and concentration (when tonsils are enlarged and inflamed you feel bad thus effecting concentration and eating habits) because source of discomfort will be gone. when my tonsils are infected I just want to lay in bed because I can’t swallow and I am in pain the last thing I want is to eat or concentrate on tasks or work
You will notice the changes described by the doctor. My son was 4 when he had his removed, his tonsils and adenoids were also enlarged to the point where it even affected his sleeping because the size of the tonsils and the adenoids actually restricted his breathing when he was lying down to sleep. After his surgery I noticed that he was in a better mood, he listened and paid more attention to things around him and he slept so much better at night. Imagine not being able to hear properly, it would be hard to pay attention to things going on around you and it would also affect your ability to concentrate. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes in your daughter after the surgery.
