I would suggest going to a ENT doctor. But until then take a flash light and look at the back of your throat. Is your tonsils bigger?? Do they have white things on them?? Or do they look like craters?? I had tonsillitis last year and had to get my tonsils removed. It's not that big of a deal. I was 25 they were worried because I was so old and younger ppl. (kids) do better with the surgery. Seriously it's not that bad. Just make sure to go to a Specialist not a regular doctor. They will just give you antibiotics which MAY help. But if it is tonsillits it will come back.

Open your mouth and using a mirror look at your throat, if there are puffy, swollen, red glands on either side which are inflamed then yes your tonsils are swollen. If it is a particularly bad case (doesnt sound like it) they will have pus filled pores (white spots).
I had advanced tonselitus last year and though my tonsels on a scale of 1-5 (1 being not swollen 5 being huge) were a 4+ and a 5+ the ENT (ears nose throat specialist) informed me that they could not be removed unless I experienced somewhere of six cases of tonsilitus in a year or my tonsels became so enlarged that I could not swallow or breath. Removing the tonsels is not highly suggested anymore I guess but it is not even a body part we need when we are adults. When we are babies and children our tonsels sample different bacteria to build antibodies so that if we get sick we can fight them off. Good luck!

you should be examined by a ear, nose and throat doctor..

you could have a simple case of strep throat or tonsillitis but without being examined by a doctor, guessing is just that and mattering on your age alot .. 85-90% wont remove them in people over 25 because of the complications.
