Sleep apnea or anxiety?
Last night when I was dozing off to sleep I’d suddenly wake up like I hadn’t been breathing for a few seconds. Now, I understand this could be sleep apnea, but it does NOT happen very often-actually this is the first time it’s happened in probably more than 6 months. It gave me anxiety so repeatedly I’d try to fall asleep and the same thing would happen. It could be mild sleep apnea I guess, but I’m thinking it could also just be anxiety. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and just recently have completely cut out caffeine, changed my diet (better), and started working out. On top of that I’m 5 states away from my family for the next 4 months and it’s really getting to me.
I do have larger than normal tonsils that have caused me throat problems (sickness) in the past but my doctor never recommended taking them out because it hasn’t happened in about 1.5 years.
Tonsils causing obstructive sleep apnea or just anxiety?
I know I need to see a doctor, but anyone have the same issue?
Well I don’t snore, anymore. I used to a little bit now and then but not so much anymore.
I am pretty sure it’s anxiety because my boyfriend tells me he doesn’t notice any odd behavior while I’m sleeping. I’ll probably go to the doctor anyway just to make sure.
Thanks for all your help!!

Remember that in REM sleep, you are ultimately unconscious.
Sleep apnea is strictly common amongst highly obese individuals. If you’re a man, sleep apnea could contribute to erectile dysfunction. Lack of energy is common in both sexes. Lethargy.
Anxiety does not wake you up in the middle of the night. It keeps you awake before you fall asleep.
Hope this helps. If you don’t find your answer, consult a psychologist or a physician.
I would def check with a doctor to be safe. But I am almost pos. it is anxiety. It sounds like you are just having mild panic when you fall asleep it happens to me all the time when I am stressed out! and giving it attention makes it worse but you might want to see a doctor so it clears your mind of thinking it is apnea then you wont have to worry about it. try not to worry about it and good luck!
dang that sounds really really bad I dont really know what to tell you
Individuals with sleep apnea generally do not even realize they have it.
Have your friends/family ever mentioned that you snore? People with sleep apnea will snore, although that does not always mean you have sleep apnea. But the worse the apnea, the worse the snoring gets.
If it sounds like I am saying
on’t worry, just sleep?, well, I’m not. Definitely talk to your doctor and ENT when you can, but if you only notice waking up once every 1 1/2 years then you are doing pretty great!
