I’m thirteen years old and my throat has been really, really sore for the last few days. This morning when I was brushing my teeth I noticed that my tonsils are all red and swollen. I’m on antibiotics for my throat but they aren’t doing anything and I think it’s getting worse. When I showed my mom she said that I might have to get them removed, and I’m scared because I love to sing and I’m hoping to become a singer in the near future. Will getting tonsils removed affect my singing voice at all? I’ve searched Yahoo! Answers for this question and found a ton of results… but half of them said there’s no effect on the voice and the other half said there was. :\

I’ve been in pure agony for a week. My tonsils are so swollen and I can barely swallow anything. I just want to skip the medicine and just get them out. Is it going to affect my health? And for those of you that have had them removed, how long did the surgery take… how badly is it going to hurt afterward?
