I feel tonsils are there for a reason and I am afraid that if I remove them now, he might get other problems. Aren’t tonsils there to catch bacteria etc before it enters the body and causes other diseases/sicknesses? He is only two and a half. Doctor said if he gets it 3 times rest of year, we must consider doing it. My husband feels we should take them out any way for “just in case”, but I insist that we get more opinions. Am I being stubborn? It’s just that a docter told my mother, when 16 year old sister had hers removed, that there is no reason to remove a childs tonsils before he/she reaches age of 7.

It has been 6 days now and she is still so uncomfortable from her surgery. The doctor said he opened her airway another 50% and that her adnoids were as big as her “kissing tonsils!” I will say, I have already noticed she sleeps with her mouth closed and is SO silent! I really am hoping our lives will begin to have some normalcy we have had very little sleep in 4 years. She has always hated to go to sleep, lay horizontal and been sick with every normal child sickness, but just to the MAX. For example she has had the 12 colds a year, 6 ear infections a year…etc…
