Are enlarged adenoids/tonsils a problem in children if they cause no pain?

I have noticed for a while that sometimes when my daughter (7 yrs old) talks, it sounds as though she is speaking through a pinched nose. I checked her throat and noticed she has enlarged tonsils, they appear to be swollen, to the point where they touch the uvulva.
She says it does not hurt, does not hurt to swallow, no ear pain, etc. She doesn’t have any trouble breathing. I thought maybe it was a cold coming on but 3 mos later they are still enlarged. Still no pain.
Is this a sign of an underlying issue? What could cause this? TY!
