I still have my tonsils and I do suffer from crypts in my tonsils. The back of my throat has about a 1/3 of an inch patch of skin that is white and is always that way. It has been that way for a couple years and I didn’t know if it is normal. I have a lot of sinus problems and thought maybe that could be to blame???
Thanks in advance for any help in the matter.

My cat collapsed a few weeks ago … I noticed when I got home late night from work. He had some rough patches of dried skin all over his body, was barely moving, no appetite, etc … very bad!
So, I took him to the 24 HR Emergency Vet where 2 days and $1300 later his life was saved. He was diagnosed with a heart condition and was given two medications to take.
Now, he is VERY lethargic/tired, he eats a lot but has lost a ton of weight (you can feel his bones when you pet him — and he used to be fat). Plus, he STINKS (breath and body odor is terrible) and he still has tons of really dry skin and is losing lots and lots of hair which he pulls out and which also easily pulls off, revealing a dead skin patch on the bottom of the hair.
He is interested in food, he does move around (though awkwardly and very slowly) … he seems like he’s near death … but on the other hand he does not really seem to be suffering.
The skin condition is very concerning. As is the smell. And he keeps peeing/pooping in the wrong areas (not his litter box).
Any idea what the dry skin (like dried pimples all over his body, in some areas they are in patches)? And should I consider putting him down if he isn’t going to rebound from this? It can’t be very pleasant for him … oh, and he is 14 years old. I have his brother, also 14, who is perfectly fine and jumps around like a monkey and looks great. This cat looks very ragged and shedding mind boggling amounts of hair on a daily basis.
What is the cause/cure and is he near the end?
