why can i taste my tonsilloliths but not see them?

i have had tonilloliths before or Tonsil stones little white lump things in my throat nd i usually remove them myself easily with a little squeesze of the tonsil but this time i am confused i cannot see them at all but everytime i swallow i can taste that HORRIBLE taste that comes with them what is wrong is this dangerous or is it simply a tonsil stone or as some like to joke tonsil poo that hasnt formed yet please help
