I have tonsil stones. A week ago, it appeared that one of them becam severely infected. It was so painful, I had to get tested for strep.
Well, now the infected stone is gone. My throat isnt hurting, but the tonsil socket which held the stone is still red and swollen, and sometimes I get a burst of pain when I swallow.
Why could this be?

I have done research for the past 7 days and I’ve heard tons of things about the yellowish calcified stench balls like: It occurs when you get a cold, you need antibiotics or eat a clove of garlic a day, you get it from drinking too much beer, starchy foods like pasta and potatoes, milk and dairy products, dry nasal passageways, you don’t scrape your tongue, you need to gargle with warm salt water, you need to use a waterpik, or a cotton swap to push it out. What’s the consensus here? so much information so little time…
